Canada Day falls on a Friday this year which means a long weekend. It's our
first Canada Day as citizens of our new home, and below is how we spent the
weekend.
Thursday: Movie Date
After working hours, we went straight to Marine Gateway and had dinner
at
Tim Hortons. But, more importantly, we watched Lightyear at Cineplex. I need Sox in my
life.
Afterwards, we grabbed groceries from T&T. I can't wait to prepare the
kimchi fried rice and okonomiyaki we got.
Friday: Canada Together celebration at Canada Place
For the first time ever since moving to Canada, we decided to head to Downtown
Vancouver and enjoy the festivities at Canada Place.

We started the day by walking across Granville Bridge to Canada Place. We
stopped by Tim Hortons at Hornby Street because Jomar requested we get the
S'mores Iced Capp, and I agreed only if we pass by a Tims location.

When we got to Canada Place, we took pictures of the cruise ship docked and
the main stage. Then, we walked in front of the West Convention Center where the
food trucks are located. We scouted our food options (
#foodpriorities) and have decided to enjoy
poutine. Afterwards, we walked back to Canada Place because Jomar said we
should get flags, stickers, and temporary tattoos.
We also decided to enter the Vancouver Convention Center West to cool down because it was hot outside. We entered one of the exhibit halls, and the view was breathtaking.

My sister called and we met up with her as well. Then, our only brother had just
finished his work shift nearby (yay for double pay), and we walked around
together before calling it a day at around 4:00 PM.
We walked back home under the scorching heat. Jomar brought our sunblock, and we
applied it again before our 5 kilometres back home across the Burrard Bridge.
Saturday: Whitecaps FC win at BC Place
We went to our favourite neighbourhood event for lunch - Thank Granville It's Food trucks (TGIF). We enjoyed jerk chicken from
The Jerk Shack and even got ice cream from
Purdy's Chocolatier.
At 4:30 PM, we started our 50-minute walk across Cambie Bridge to
BC Place.

The Vancouver Whitecaps FC is playing LAFC, and they won 1-nil with an 89th-minute goal from Andrés Cubas. It was our first time watching him play in person, and we were rewarded with a beautiful goal. That's the loudest cheering I've heard in BC Place for a goal since watching this team in person.

The Whitecaps won! We also got a free bucket hat. |
After the game, we walked back home happy and satisfied. Thank God the 'Caps won!

Sunday: Mass and Food Truck
After the high of the Whitecaps game, we woke up later than usual and went straight to the 11:00 AM Mass. Afterwards, we dropped by the TGIF pod, where six food trucks are located. We ordered from
Takenaka Japan and
Mahshiko Korean Fusion.
It was a rainy day, so we enjoyed our lunch at home and did nothing for the rest of the day.
