Exploring Cineplex in Vancouver

When Jomar and I got married 6 months ago, we agreed to watch a movie at the cinema once a month (minimum). For the 5 of those 6 months, we have been watching movies at Cineplex Cinemas Marine Gateway and VIP. This month we decided to watch at Fifth Avenue Cinemas.

First one inside the theater!

Fifth Avenue Cinemas

As the name implies, this cinema is at 5th Avenue corner Burrard. Walking distance (if you like walking) to both home and work. This location is restricted to age 19+ because they serve alcohol at the Licensed Bar and Lounge.

Licensed Lounge

Theater

There are 5 in this location and the one we went to is smaller than I expected and it's ground level. The seats were low.

Food and Snack

I was disappointed by the food offering. I don't know but I was expecting it to have as many food choices as they have in their Marine branch but they only serve like 9 items and even the snack bar didn't have Outtakes - only popcorn. Food was still good though. Expensive but good.

Cineplex Cinemas Marine Gateway and VIP

I haven't watched a movie in any of the 3 VIP theatre in Marine but their 8 non-VIP theatre is already great so I am not yet sure what the difference are. This location is a bus away from both home and work and accessible via sky train just in case you're in a hurry.

Theater

Because they have 11 screens (3 VIP and 8 non-VIP), the sizes is different for each one. If I remember correct, cinema 1 and 2 are smaller than the others. I think it's cinema 5 that's biggest. My point is you either have to go up or down some form of stairs to get to your seat. It's not one level like in the Fifth Avenue Cinema.

Food and Snack

Variety! We have tried food from their VIP Lounger or whatever they call it and the food options are more than Fifth Avenue Cinemas and service was excellent. Plus, the view upstairs of the Fraser River and Mt. Baker is spectacular.

Meanwhile, food option from Outtakes and snack bar below is great. My guilty pleasure is their pulled pork poutine - so good!

Besides these two theaters, I have only watched a movie at SilverCity Riverport Cinemas in Richmond.
