Hunt for Churros

Image
My sisters have been craving for churros for a while now. In the Philippines, Taco Bell offers Churros with a chocolate dip that they love. Thus, my hunt for Churros in Metro Vancouver begins. I was in Downtown Vancouver yesterday and decided I could spend the afternoon searching for Churros. According to Foursquare (my trusted and fave application), I could go to Tacofino Cantina, a food truck along Howe Street since it's the closest to my location yesterday. I walked for 10 minutes and asked if they have Churros available. It was out of stock! The guy suggested I go to their main restaurant at Gastown, but I am too lazy to walk all the way there. Last week, I also went to Cambie Village to search for churros. The only restaurant there that offers churros is Las Tortas, and it's also out of stock. Going back to yesterday, I remember Therese saying that Cineplex sells churros so I searched for the nearest Cineplex and the Scotiabank Theatre is a 6-minute walk. I also did

Food Trip in Richmond (West Cambie): Cactus Club

Happy birthday Therese! =) We had dinner earlier today to celebrate the birthday of my dearest sister Therese. She chose the Cactus Club Cafe to celebrate her birthday because we haven't tried eating there. She made the 6 PM reservation and thanked God, she did! For a Wednesday evening, the place was packed. We all ordered what we wanted and had dinner. Appetizer for Everyone: Beef Carpaccio I had Pesto Chicken Quesadilla.

Food Trip in Richmond (Aberdeen Center): Saboten

I love Japanese Curry! If you need a fix of Japanese (or any Asian) cuisine, you should definitely go to Richmond. The curry from Saboten tasted like what you would expect from Japan. The meat was tender (though a bit too oily), and the sauce was at the right consistency. Overall, I am happy and satisfied with my Japanese Curry.

Food Trip in Richmond (Granville): Pumphouse Taproom

Image
Therese wanted to go out last night because it was Friday. Again, ever since we attended the travel meetup, she wanted to try something new every Friday after her classes. Since I can't accompany her yesterday to the Vancouver Lookout Tower , Therese suggested we go to a restaurant or bar in Richmond. Upon research, she decided we should try Pumphouse Taproom because she wanted some alcoholic drink. I, on the other hand, am a foodie, so I was after trying out their food. I had their Prosciutto Chicken Burger while Therese had their Calamari. Prosciutto Chicken Burger Calamari The Calamari was superb. It was crispy and wasn't chewy or oily at all. It was excellent. I wish I could say the same for the Chicken burger. Sadly, the burger I ordered was dry, and the whole thing was just tasteless. I was telling Therese that I should have probably ordered their other burger. Ambiance and service were also excellent. It was a pub/bar because of the full range of beer

Food Trip in Richmond (Alexandra Road): Seto Japanese Restaurant

Image
Last Christmas, I gave my siblings gifts that they want to have. I never purchased anything for my parents so yesterday I decided to bring them to a Japanese restaurant because my mom had been raving about wanting to have Ramen and Tempura. After doing research, we were initially going to eat at Gmen Ramen Shop, but are not open on Sundays, so we end up at Sato Japanese Restaurant. Companions: Mother and Father Sato is a posh, upscale Japanese restaurant which offers a lot of famous Japanese food. They have the usual sushi and sashimi, takoyaki and okonomiyaki, ramen, tempura, and so much more. Plus, the ambiance of the place is Japanese. Below is the food we ordered, and I was severely bloated after this delicious meal. They have all of my favourite Japanese food!

Food Trip in Richmond (McLennan North): Sakura Sushi

I love Japanese cuisine. Currently, it's my favourite cuisine. Ever since coming from the Philippines and stopping over Japan for a 2-hour layover and eating my favourite Japanese Curry, I have been searching for the best place to try it in Canada, and I end up at Sakura Sushi. Earlier today, I slipped on melted snow. I also attended a seminar which got me a little bit sad, so I need my comfort Japanese food. Sakura Sushi is a small no-frills restaurant that offers good Japanese food. When I go to Japanese restaurants, I have this list of food I must try which is Japanese Curry (if it's available), Gyoza (must-have), and Salmon/Tuna Sashimi. Upon reviewing the Sakura Sushi menu, they don't have Japanese Curry, but thankfully they have Gyoza and both Salmon and Tuna Sashimi. I was famished, so I ordered Chicken Karaage and a bowl of rice. Salmon and Tuna Sashimi Free Miso Soup Fried Gyoza Chicken Karaage I loved their Chicken Karaage but was disappoi
