Visiting Bloedel Conservatory at the top of Queen Elizabeth Park

It's Victoria Day long weeked. Yesterday, we went to Richmond to celebrate youngest sister's birthday. Woohoo! We ordered Popeyes for lunch and Japanese food for dinner. It's always fun to spend time with my siblings.

After Mass today, I asked Jomar what he wants to do with the following options:

  • We walk to Downtown Vancouver and visit the Vancouver Art Gallery. We've been living here for more than five years and have not entered it.
  • Since it's a beautiful day outside, we can walk to Queen Elizabeth Park, sit on a bench, and enjoy the serenity it can offer in the middle of a bustling city.

We went for the free option of walking to Queen Elizabeth Park. We grabbed Tim Hortons on the way. Despite coming here often, I still love it. Thank God for parks.

When we arrived at the top, I asked Jomar if we should go inside the Bloedel Conservatory since we haven't been. Given that we don't have a budget, I said if it's above $20.00 per person, no. Thankfully, the entrance is $7.40.

What greeted us is a lush tropical forest inside the dome. There's also a mini falls with koi and beautifully coloured birds. It's wonderful. Although, exploring it shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes unless you really love reading each plant and staring at each bird. It's a great experience at a reasonable price.

There are colourful tropical birds too.

After walking around the park, we started our walk home and I asked Jomar if we can sit at a coffee shop and enjoy each other's company. He agreed on the condition that it's a spot we haven't visited before. We had a lovely time at Whitewood Coffee (Oak Street at 16th Avenue) drinking mocha latte and enjoying assorted waffle.
