Day 1 of Toronto Vacation: Flight and Walking Around

Yay! We're flying again, and it's our first flight and vacation outside of British Columbia since our trip to the Philippines in 2019.

I woke up at 2:00 AM to shower and finalize our things, and by 3:30 AM, we were off to Vancouver International Airport.

We grabbed breakfast from Green Bean Cafe since they're the only one open after security before 5:00 AM.

We boarded the plane before 6:00 AM, and we were off! I just realized that flying outside of Manila always guarantees a view of some water (sea, lake, etc.), but flying domestically from Vancouver means seeing the Rockies and the prairies from above.

I can see the flatlands of the prairies.

I had more pictures, but they're not good because the window is dirty. But I'm just grateful to be flying again and have a chance to see this thing.

As we descended to Toronto, we saw the famous CN Tower from afar and above.

This is the best picture I can take through the dirty airplane window.

We exited the plane, got our luggage, and took the Link train to Terminal 1. Then, we took the UP (Union Pearson Express) to Union Station. From there, we walked the PATH to the CN Tower alongside Blue Jay fans headed to the game. Finally, we continued to Blue Jays Way to our hotel.

After exiting the PATH, I asked Jomar, where's the CN Tower? Then, we looked up. 😂

After checking in and leaving our luggage, we walked to St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica. On our way, we spotted many things, like the Campbell House Museum, the South African War Memorial, and the Statue of Sir Adam Beck.

We also spent a few minutes in Nathan Phillips Square to take pictures of the Toronto Sign and the Toronto Old City Hall.

Continuing our walk, we end up at CF Toronto Eaton Center for lunch (it's 4:15 PM Eastern time, but 1:15 PM Pacific which means the perfect time for late lunch).

Then, we attended Mass at St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica.

Afterwards, we returned to our hotel to freshen up before going for dinner. While enjoying our meal, we learned that the Blue Jays lost and many supporters were eating at nearby restaurants or trying to drive out of the Downtown area. I realized there should be a "don't drive to sports events." campaign of some sort. The amount of honking last night from stressed and angry supporters was understandable but surprising.

We took more than 15,000 steps today, and I love it. I miss blogging outside of my home, and I thank my past self for insisting we bring the laptop to be able to write.

I am exhausted, and it's almost 11:00 PM Eastern time, so I am publishing this without pictures. I'll add them tomorrow. Good night!
