Visiting the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum | Family Day 2022 Weekend

Happy Saturday! It's Family Day long weekend, and Monday is a non-working holiday in BC.

Our original plan for today is to watch the scrimmage game of the Whitecaps FC team in BC Place. However, it was scheduled at 2:00 PM, so I started looking for museums that we could visit near the area that we could see in the morning.

I found in Google Maps The BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, which is inside BC Place (separate entrance). I booked a ticket right away for the 10:00 AM entrance. Guess what? The tickets were free because it's Family Day weekend!

Free game and free visit to the museum - I feel so blessed. We arrived at the museum at 10:15 AM and stayed there for almost three hours.

We visited the gallery in the following order:

  1. Vancouver 2010 Gallery - Moments and memorabilia of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games
  2. Hall of Champions - A lot of pictures and tributes to honour the inductees of the BC Sports Hall of Fame
  3. Defining Moments - In this wall gallery, the different athletes and defining moments in BC sports are highlighted
  4. Terry Fox Gallery - I got emotional in this gallery. Terry Fox is an inspiration, and I kept wondering how I could make an impact the way he did.
  5. Rick Hansen Gallery - Another inspiration from Canada.
  6. Participation Zone - There were a lot of kids playing in the Participation Zone, so we just walked past it. It has a hockey area, wall climbing, and I am sure I missed a couple more.
  7. Greg Moore Gallery - There's a racing car in the middle of the gallery and when you press a button, you'll hear the sounds of the 900 horsepower engine.
  8. Our Teams, Our Turf and BC Place Viewing Window - Learning about the history of the three professional teams in Vancouver - BC Lions, Vancouver Canucks, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Plus, the viewing window gave us a view of BC Place and saw the team warming up.
  9. Indigenous Sport Gallery - I love learning about the Indigenous community and am pleased to see their achievements and participation in sports.
  10. In Her Footsteps -This section of the museum highlights and celebrates BC Women in sport and their respective achievements.
  11. Challenger Map - The rotating exhibit when we visited is 8 panels of the Challenger Map. It's mind-blowingly detailed and beautiful.

I have visited three museums in Metro Vancouver this year and can't wait to continue going to more tourist attractions in Metro Vancouver. I can't wait to travel more.

Where is the entrance of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum? It's at the edge of Gate A. It says BC Sports Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, many people get lost and can't find the door going to the museum.
