Family Day Trip to Seattle, WA

My mom's birthday is the same weekend as Father's Day, so we decided to take a day trip to Seattle, Washington, USA.

We left home at 5:30 AM and went to the car rental with my younger sister, her boyfriend, me, and Jomar. She rented an 8-seater minivan which is perfect for us.

We picked them up in Richmond and left their home to start our drive at around 6:30 AM. We went through the usual USA border processing with our Canadian passports (woohoo!) and my dad's Philippine passport and US visa. We had a short stopover at a McDonald's.

Then, we're off to Target near Pike Place Market. My youngest sister wants to see what Target looks like. It's her first time in Seattle. It's also our brother's first time in the city. We explored Pike Place (mostly lining up at the excellent food places) and then took the short drive to the Space Needle. Everyone went up to the observation deck except Jomar and me because we already did that in 2016.

While they were upstairs, we took pictures around and hung out inside the armoury since it was cold and drizzling outside. It won't be the Pacific Northwest without the rain.

Then, we went to the Museum of Pop Culture. It was a good museum, but I wonder if it's worth the entrance. My younger sister enjoyed the sound lab on the top floor. There are too many people to try any of the Indie Games. I am still happy to see Harry Potter and Doctor Who stuff.

After MoPOP, we drove to the Chowking and Red Ribbon in Tukwila, WA. We already have Jollibee in Vancouver, so we skipped that, but the mamon, empanada, halo-halo, and siomai are too good in our heads to resist. Nostalgia is real and powerful, especially with food.

Then, we start our long drive back to Canada. We stopped by Seattle Premium Outlets to see if any office backpacks were available at a reasonable price.

We arrived back in Richmond at almost 10:00 PM. It's always fun to spend time with the family. Thanks, Papa and sister's boyfriend, for driving.

Happy birthday, Ma! Happy Father's Day, Pa!
