Hello 2019!

2018 has been a busy year. I stopped writing here mid of last year because I got promoted at work (yay!) but has been really busy.

One of my goal for this year (and was my goal last year) is to write 1 post each week. Last year is also the first time I didn't have a year-end summary. Oh well. Let's  be positive as we welcome the new year.

New Year's Eve

I arrived in Canada last 2015 and I spent NYE for 2016, 2017, and 2018 thinking and dreaming of watching the fireworks in Downtown Vancouver. I didn't go those previous years because of the cold and crowd. I told my brother during my first NYE in Canada that we should book a hotel in Downtown where we could see the fireworks, avoid the crowd, and be warm.

Pan Pacific Hotel

That dream came true NYE of 2019. Last September, I booked a hotel room at Pinnacle Hotel. However, in November, I learned that the fireworks display won't be visible from any of their rooms which is unfortunate. I, then, called Pan Pacific Hotel to make sure that I am booking the correct room that will have the best view of the fireworks. Thank God for RBC credit card points that we got a $100 discount on a Harbor View Deluxe room. Our room is at the 22nd floor and upon check out I learned that it's a concierge floor (not sure what that meant).

Food Truck

After resting and getting settled in our room, we decided to grab dinner from a few of the 17 food truck available downstairs. We started with Takoyaki from Teriyaki Express.

Then, we had Manhattan Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl.

Followed by Jalapeno Corn Dog from Corn Dog King.

After which, we had Chicken Quesadilla from Los Tacos Hermanos.

We ended with mini donuts from Mini Donuts. As if that's not enough, we decided to grab Caramel Pop Corn to eat in our room.

The Fireworks

There are two fireworks display during the evening. A 5-minute show for families with kids who can't stay out and up until midnight, then, a 10-minute fireworks display to welcome 2019 at midnight. I caught both on video! I also discovered that my Pixel 3 can take video with UHD 4K (30 fps) video resolution which I tested here.

No Resolutions but Goals

A couple weeks ago, Jomar and I had our annual "meeting". It sounds formal, I know but it's just really us in a coffee shop discussing what we're thankful for in 2018 and what our goals for 2019. We have our couple goals and individual goals. Can't wait to see what this year brings!
