Affordable Team Building Place in Vancouver

Image
I work with a small team. We're only 8-9 people in the office, so planning an affordable team night out in Vancouver is always a challenge. However, I found Colony Entertainment District, which is mind-blowing amazing. Colleagues! Cost You pay for food and can use all the games and amenities they have. You may also need to spend a toonie here and there for the arcade games and foosball. Ping Pong Table What's inside? They have arcade games and foosball that your team can enjoy. They also have a pool table, a ping pong table, and a bocce space. They have A LOT of TVs if watching sports games is your thing. Moreover, they have quiz night every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (be sure to check the website for updates), which sounds a great bonding night. Nachos for Sharing Tip Be sure to make a reservation.  If you're after the pool table, ping pong table, and foosball, try to get a spot upstairs.  If you're after playing arcades or bocce,

Last game of the season for Vancouver Whitecaps FC

Image
It's the last game of the season for Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Jomar and I decided to watch it live in BC Place. We even got team shirts to show our support and love for the team (although they did terribly this year). We went to Tim Hortons this morning and have oatmeal for breakfast before heading to Mass. At 10 AM, we're already in Downtown Vancouver walking along Robson street looking for a place to have lunch. Most of the restaurants are still closed except for fast-food chains, McDonald's, A&W, and Subway. Then, Jomar saw that there are people inside Patron Tacos & Cantina. Empanads Quesadilla We had lunch there and enjoyed watching the Sports Network Top 50 plays of the month. A quick review of the Patron, the food is delicious, but I don't think it's worth the price. Go to The Mexican along Granville Street, it's delicious and great value for money. Anyway, after lunch, we started walking to BC Place. They were giving out 1,500 Wh

Poutine with Purpose 2019 Vancouver

Image
Jomar and I love to eat out a minimum once a week. He's always on the lookout for events that we can do during the weekend when he stumbled upon Poutine with Purpose . For every poutine you buy and enjoy during Poutine with Purpose Week, one simple, healthy meal will be provided to a youth in need. Saturday Evening We attended the 5 PM Mass at St. Augustine's and decided to have dinner at one of the restaurants on the list. We went to Colony Entertainment District to try the Colony Poutine. Colony Poutine It was a busy Saturday, and the table we're eating on is reserved at 7:30 PM, so we quickly enjoyed our dinner and walked to the bus stop to go home. Looking towards the direction of Granville Bridge is this beautiful sunset glow. I love Vancouver! Sunset Sunday Afternoon Sunday is usually reserved for staying at home and watching NFL all day. However, since it's a beautiful clear day, Jomar and I decided to take a walk by the Seawall between

Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs Columbus Crew SC

It was one of those Saturday when we decided to watch the Vancouver Whitecaps FC live at BC Place. It's their second to the last game at home for the season. The day started with Jomar's dentist appointment. After that, we decided to walk across Cambie Bridge. It's the last bridge crossing the False Creek that we haven't crossed yet on foot. It's the safest bridge to walk to compared to the Granville Bridge and not as noisy as Burrard Bridge. View from Cambie Bridge When we got to Downtown Vancouver, we went to the Vancouver Public Library's main branch to see what books they have on sale. I called my brother to check if he's already in Downtown. We had lunch at Big G, as suggested by Jomar, because he knows I love Taiwanese fried chicken, plus they're relatively empty compared to other places nearby. After eating lunch, we headed to BC Place and watched a rather dull game until Fredy Montero scored a goal in the added minutes of the game.

Labour Day Long Weekend: Taiwanfest 2019 in Vancouver

Image
It's a beautiful cloudy Sunday, and it's a long weekend, so we have no work tomorrow (Yay!). Morning Our Sunday morning routine includes a quick breakfast at Tim Hortons and walking to St. Augustine's Church for Mass. Maple Oatmeal and Single Single for Breakfast Today is unique because instead of going home right away, we walked across Burrard Bridge to Downtown Vancouver to join the Taiwanfest festivities and enjoy yummy food. Beautiful View from the Burrard Bridge facing English Bay Taiwanfest 2019 We walked along Granville Street from Robson to Dunsmuir to check each booth and learn more about Taiwan. We were also just in time for this performance: After that, we went in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery, where the food stalls and the main stage are located. We purchased noodles for Jomar (because he couldn't eat solid food yet), and I got Taiwanese fried chicken. Vancouver Public Library After a food coma lunch

Pinoy Fiesta 2019 in Vancouver

Image
Jomar has been great at finding activities and events we should go to during the weekend. Today, we went to Memorial South Park at 41st Avenue and Ross Street in search of Filipino food and a sense of home in Vancouver. We visited each booth representing either a company sponsor or a fiesta in the Philippines. There was a Pahiyas booth and Sto. Nino one. Initially, we couldn't find where all the food stalls are, but we saw people crowding a section of the park and knew right away it's there. Pahiyas Bahay Kubo The first order of business is to get Pinoy BBQ. Then, we had dinuguan, tocino, kwek-kwek, turon, and finished our meal with Potato Corner fries and Sago't Gulaman. Food coma! We watched the parade as well. It was great!

Landsea Tours: Whistler & Shannon Falls Tour

Image
Jomar and I decided to do what most tourists do when they visit British Columbia - go to Whistler. I decided to pay Landsea Tours for bus transportation going to and from Whistler. It will be a day trip. It's our first "vacation" trip EVER as a married couple (not counting going back to the Philippines). On the way to Whistler Village We started the day by walking to Park Inn & Suites by Radisson. It's the closest hotel to our place and is our designated pick-up point. We arrived an hour early and had breakfast at Tim Hortons across the street. Tim Hortons breakfast Our bus arrived with Mickey is our tour guide and bus driver for the day. It's a full bus. We picked up more tourists around Downtown, Vancouver. Then, we started our journey. Empty bus (for now) We were rewarded with a beautiful view of Howe Sound as the bus driver through the Sea to Sky Highway. My photos did not give justice to the beautiful view, so here's a short v
