Canada Day: Food, Sisters, and Event (My First Canada Day!)

Image
Facebook ads are effective. The only reason I learned about the Canada Day celebration is because of the Facebook advertisement by the Richmond, BC page. When I saw it, I shared it with Therese so we could make plans for my first Canada Day! Canada Day High with our flag, shirt, cap, and cupcakes. What made us decide to go? Food. Specifically, pancake breakfast! We left home early and arrived at Steveston at almost 9:00 am. We walked around to check what food vendors will be available then lined up for our serving of the pancakes.

TELUS World of Science: Love and Learning

Of all the dates Jomar and I had been to in Vancouver, this goes to the top two! TELUS World of Science, BC Place, Rogers Arena, and Grouse Mountain in one 360 photo My favourite exhibit is the Eureka. You get to learn while playing with the different experiments. Below are some of the pictures inside the Eureka exhibit. Wheels and Dams experiment

Vancouver Chinese Garden: Love and Peace

Image
Jomar and I spent the afternoon in the Sun Yat-Sen Park and Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden. It was our first time to the west side of Downtown Vancouver, and there were a lot of homeless people. Sun Yat-Sen Park It is a free public park built in a Chinese style, with mostly North American materials. It is connected to the Classical Chinese Garden by a pond.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park: Love, Experience, and View

Image
Last Tuesday, Jomar and I spent the day at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. I've been there before, but I enjoyed it so much that I had to bring Jomar there as well. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park offers free shuttle service from Downtown Vancouver to Capilano. Check their website for pick-up point and schedule. You may also check Translink or Google Maps for public transportation direction. Jomar and I are inside the free shuttle bus. There are different sections of the park, and we enjoyed them all. Starting from the Story Centre and Kiapilano Totem Poles guided tour, we walked our way to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Because of the volume of people walking on the bridge, it was shaking more than the last time I was there. Guided Tour of the Story Centre and Kia'pilano

White Rock Beach and Pier: Food, Family, and View

Image
Our family loves the TV series Psych. We love Shawn and Gus and the relationship they have with each other. After watching the series and browsing YouTube for behind the scenes, interviews, etc., we found out that almost all episodes were filmed in British Columbia. Episodes that would feature the University of British Columbia, Stanley Park, and Queen Elizabeth Park always made my heart giddy with joy since I've been to those places. To seal our Psych addiction, our family went to White Rock BC where the agency office of Shawn and Gus is. White Rock Beach Pier

VanDusen Botanical Garden: Love and View

Image
I love botanical gardens! When I was in Singapore, I spent a few hours at the Singapore Botanic Garden. It was very relaxing, sitting in benches under the trees, smelling the flowers, and enjoying the cool breeze. It was great! Now, that I am in Canada, one of my places to visit is the VanDusen Botanical Garden . Last Wednesday, Jomar and I spent 1-5pm walking around the vast land area. Hello Botanical Garden!

The Vancouver Aquarium: Love, Experience, and View

Image
I wish we had more time in Vancouver Aquarium. Jomar and I arrived at the Vancouver Aquarium yesterday at around 1:00 PM and the aquarium closes at 5:00 PM. Four hours is not enough inside this sanctuary for marine life. The entrance at VanAqua costs $31.00 (plus taxes) per person and since it's a nonprofit organization the money goes to saving and preservation of animal life from the sea, rivers, and lakes. Vancouver Aquarium The first section we visited in the aquarium is Discover Rays . We touched the back of a live stingray! It was cool!

Centennial Beach: Family and View

Image
Today, our family celebrated Victoria Day by having a picnic at Centennial Beach. It was our first time to visit a beach in Canada and my first time to have a picnic with Jomar. Family Picnic with the rest of the Couples of Christ family My dad cooked the most delicious Filipino adobo for sharing. It was so good that the other family decided to bring some home with them. My mom was thrilled because a family brought ginataan , a Filipino sweet dessert she'd been craving for a few weeks now.

Queen Elizabeth Park: Family, Experience, and View

Since I am new to Canada, it's my first time to experience Spring. I am excited to see how the environment will change with the season change. Therese was so enthusiastic about the Sakura Illumination , but for weather reasons, they moved it to April 1. Nonetheless, our family decided to visit the park to see Spring colours come back to life! Sadly, not all flowers are in full bloom yet, but we did have some great photos to take with us. More importantly, we had some family quality time.

Image
I am back in Ozamiz City! I am so happy to be back in Ozamiz. It's one of those places that you visit not because of some famous tourist spot but because of the amazing people you get to meet. +Jomar  and I went to Ozamiz in replacement of  +Jerome  who won't be able to join the event because of work. Jomar is going to share about the different  +Google Developers  tools and technologies and conduct an Android code lab while I am going to share about Google's programs for students.
