Food Trip in Maginhawa: Roberta Flavors of Asia, Cupcakes by Gremlins, and Cool Beans

Image
This blog post is the 3rd one highlighting three restaurants in Maginhawa Street. Previously, I've been to Crazy Katsu, Fancy Crepes, and Fruili Trattoria along Maginhawa Street inside the U.P. Village, Quezon City, Philippines. Yesterday (since it was a holiday), Jomar and I had our holiday date. We decided to eat somewhere in Maginhawa. Roberta Flavors of Asia (formerly called, Roberta Seafood Cantina) For lunch we went to Roberta, we ordered, Salt & Lemon Pepper Squid, Gising-Gising, Bagoong Rice, and Herbed Rice. Nothing was outstanding about what we ate. It was sad. The only consolation is the Herbed Rice which tasted fine. Our food from Roberta

Food Trip in Maginhawa: Fruili Trattoria

Image
Last July 20, 2013,  +Jomar Tigcal  and I made an effort to explore the other restaurants along Maginhawa Street (a few steps away from where I live) in Quezon City. This time we had lunch in Fruili Trattoria. When the tricycle would pass by this restaurant, I would always think that it's some fruit yogurt store. It's an Italian restaurant which serves pizza and pasta. By far, my fave pizza-pasta place is The Old Spaghetti House. Fruili comes close. It's reasonably priced, and they serve good food. Mozzarella Sticks, Tre Formaggi, and Tuna & Mushroom Spaghetti

Ten years ago our family moved from Novaliches to Diliman in Quezon City and only recently have I discovered the different food places near our house. Yesterday, I met up with my school best friends Deci and Lik-Lik to catch up on how each other is doing. We met up in Trinoma and walked around the mall sharing stories. We had lunch in Banana Leaf - a Thai/Asian restaurant. (From Left to Right) : Roti Canai and Curry Sauce, Pomelo Salad Thai Style, Pad Thai Banana Leaf Style, and  Wok Fried Squid with Basil Leaves and Chili

Cebu Pacific Official Receipt

I love flying with Cebu Pacific, but it was about to change after my experience yesterday. For this particular flight, I need an official receipt for liquidation purposes because a company will be paying for my trip. It says on their website that...

Places to Visit in Makati

Image
When I was in grade school, I remember my parents bringing us to Makati City. As a kid, the tall buildings look taller, and everything is just so big and amazing. Fast forward to now, Makati is a place I go to work every day for the past two years with hundreds even thousands of other Filipinos. Yesterday, Jomar and I had our first Saturdate for the year. We decided that we would be like tourists in Makati. Here is a list of places of interest that we had or are going to visit: Places of Worship Nuestra Senora de Gracia Parish Church - Who would have thought that in a neighbourhood known to be full of informal settlers, there would be a gem? One of the oldest Church in Makati City is near Guadalupe behind the Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary. A lot of couple from all over Metro Manila decide to get married here. Also, according to a Foursquare tip, a lot of local TV shows and movies are shot here. To get here, go down from Guadalupe Station and walk along Bernadino Street.

SeeQC: Quezon City Travel Guide

Image
I love to travel. But most of the time it sucks when I don't have enough resources (money) and time to visit places. Instead of being depressed and sulking in my room, I realize that I don't need to go far when in fact I could be a tourist in my city. With that, Jomar and I made the SeeQC App  - See Quezon City (alpha). Screenshot of SeeQC (http://seeqc.tigcal.com) The app is straightforward. It displays all the touristy places according to the Quezon City Website . We also decided to group sites by category like museums, gardens, monuments, etc. This app is in progress, so your feedback is very much welcome.
